CHECK LIST FOR PARTICIPATION
- Remember: You must not only be registered with Special Olympics of Minnesota to participate in our sports, but your application needs to be updated every three years. Click here to obtain an application if needed.
- Don't forget to register for this sport, too. At the bottom of this page you'll find a link to the aquatics registration form.
- Need a uniform? If are new to this team or have outgrown your old uniform, you need to complete this UNIFORM ORDER FORM and turn it in to your coach.
- Finally, we're all about having fun -- while we are getting some good exercise. We want you to try to come to as many practices as possible.

- All swimmers, regardless of ability and age, are welcome to be a part of the South Region Stars Swim Team.
- Please help the coaches better plan our practices by filling out the aquatics registration form completely. This information will inform the coaches of the events in which you plan to participate. It is DUE BY Saturday, JANUARY 14th!!!
- Typically we have two practices. During the first hour of practice our beginning and intermediate athletes join us. Then we hold practice for our more experienced swimmers who do not need assistance in the water.
- If you’re new to the team join us at either time the first day only. We’ll observe and let you know when to come thereafter.
- All of our competitions are free, except for the state meet - which requires a $25 entry fee.
- Due the size our team, only athletes who are registered with SOMN will be allowed in the pool. Volunteer aides are welcome; however all volunteers must be over the age of 14 and cleared as a volunteer by SOMN.
Our first practice is Saturday, January 7. Please bring your registration form, due by January 14.
We practice at Heritage Middle School MAP IT in West St. Paul (on Butler Avenue) from Saturday, January 7 until Saturday, March 31.
Our beginners and athletes who need more assistance swim from 1 pm - 2 pm. Our more advanced swimmers practice from 2 pm - 3 pm.
Swimmers who cannot swim a full length of the pool independently must attend the first session. Coaches are not always in the water during the second session.

Special Fun Pool Day on March 31!
New this year. Registered swimmers and family members -- join us in the pool from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.!
The South Region Stars competes in the Area games as well as in the State competition. On occasion we also participate in a regional competition and other local meets.
There is no charge, except for a nominal fee if participating in the state meet (which we highly encourage -- please see us about confidential scholarships if necessary).

* REQUIRED: If you plan to swim in a relay, you must be sure to attend the Area 12 meet as well as the State Meet. If you miss any of these meets, your entire Relay Team will have to miss its relay that day!!!
