Hello Downhill Skiers!
I bet you're excited about the 2009-10 Downhill Ski Season. Here you will find the information you need to know about participating, along with the material you will need to register to be a part of the team.
| • | We will begin our season on Sunday, December 6th (weather permitting). |
| • | Your Coaches are Sherry and Bob Walkush. Sherry can be reached at 651-552-9906 |
| • | Before an athlete can participate in this program, you must call Coach Sherry so that she can explain the routine to follow once the skier/chaperone arrive at Afton Alps, how you go about getting lift tickets, where to get your rentals, and where the group meets for practices. |
| • | Each athlete and accompanying chaperone (each skier should have an adult with him/her to assist) will receive a FREE Lift Ticket for the day and FREE Ski Equipment Rentals (if you do not have skis). |
| • | Coach Sherry will also need your phone number so if the weather is too cold to ski, she can contact the skiers to cancel. |
| • | HELMETS ARE REQUIRED! |
| • | All our competitions are free, except for the state meet - which requires a $25 entry fee. |
| • | You must be registered with Special Olympics Minnesota and have a current medical form on file. (Click here to obtain the form) |
| • | This year athletes CAN compete in both Floor Hockey and Skiing, as they are scheduled for different days. |
PRACTICE:
We practice on Sundays at Afton Alps Ski Area in Afton, Minnesota (along the St. Croix River). Plan to meet at 9:00 am and begin skiing at approximately 9:30 AM.

COMPETITIONS
The South Region Stars competes in the Area games as well as in the State competition. There is no charge, except for a $25 fee if participating in the state meet (which we highly encourage).
